What is 2-Way SMS?

Two-way SMS is a bidirectional messaging service where businesses can both send and receive text messages using a dedicated number — either a long code (a standard 10-digit number) or a short code (a 5–6 digit number for high-volume use). Unlike one-way bulk SMS, two-way SMS enables real conversations: customers can reply, opt in, ask questions, or confirm appointments directly via text.

What you get

Dedicated Long Codes

Personalised 10-digit numbers for 1-to-1 customer conversations and local presence.

High-Volume Short Codes

5-6 digit numbers for mass campaigns, voting, competitions and opt-in collection.

Inbound Message Webhooks

Receive inbound replies via webhook and process them in your CRM or workflow.

Keyword Auto-Responses

Set automated replies triggered by specific keywords (STOP, HELP, YES, INFO).

Conversation Threading

All messages per number are threaded for a clean conversation view.

Opt-In/Out Management

Automatic STOP handling and opt-out list management for compliance.

How businesses use it

Appointment BookingPatients or clients confirm, cancel or reschedule appointments by replying to a text.
Surveys & FeedbackPost-service surveys that customers complete via text reply — higher completion rates than email.
Lead QualificationProspects reply to an initial message and are routed based on their response.
Delivery ConfirmationCustomers confirm receipt, report issues or request re-delivery by text.

Clear answers.
Before we connect.

What is the difference between a long code and a short code?

Long codes are standard 10-digit numbers suited to conversational, lower-volume messaging. Short codes are 5-6 digit numbers better suited to high-volume campaigns. Eligibility and cost differ by market.

Can customers reply to any number we send from?

That depends on the number type and carrier configuration. We review your requirements and confirm which number types support inbound replies in your markets.

How do we manage inbound replies at scale?

Inbox tooling, routing rules and CRM integration are agreed during setup. For higher volumes, we recommend a shared inbox or CRM-connected workflow.

How do we handle STOP and opt-out requests?

Opt-out handling is configured as part of compliance setup. STOP messages are processed according to carrier and regulatory requirements for your market.

Can we use the same number for both outbound and inbound?

Yes, in most configurations. We review the number type, carrier settings and routing before confirming the setup.
